Summer is Sizzlin' in Lancaster County

It is HOT in Lancaster County! Apparently it's in the 90s, but it feels like it's 175 degrees outside. For those who like to brave the steaming outdoors, there's plenty to do here in our county. But for those who want to avoid it, there are plenty of places to escape the heat. From kayaking with Shank's Mare Outfitters to plays at local theatres like American Music Theatre, Rainbow's Comedy Playhouse, Dutch AppleEphrata Performing Arts Center, and The Fulton Theatre, we've got all your needs covered.
Shank's Mare Outfitters
Located in Wrightsville, Shank's Mare Outfitters is situated along the picturesque banks of the Susquehanna River. The outdoor retailer meets all your needs with equipment from clothing to kayaks. They also offer kayak and paddleboard classes. The Yoga and Stand Up Paddleboard class offers both yoga and paddleboard instructions. For a portion of the class, students will put their skills to the test when they try both in the water. Be sure to check out some of Shank's other events like the Native American Rock Art Paddleboard Tour, River Paddle Tour & Picnic, Paddle & Pizza. On August 6, they will host the 7th Annual Art & Outdoor Fest. Enjoy local artist's creations, historical and cultural organizations, icecream and live music. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
