May is for Mothers ... and sunshine

It seems as though someone has stolen the sun here in Lancaster. She's been missing for quite some time and we'd really like her to come home because there are some great events coming up for Mother's Day and the rest of May. So if anyone sees a large bright orb, please tell her we miss her and want her to come home. Until then, here are some events that will still shine without the sun.
Now let's talk mothers. They are often overworked and under appreciated but this weekend is a great time to let them know how much you love them.
Lancaster City hosts its ArtWalk this weekend, a self-guided tour taking place on Sunday.

Galleries, small businesses, performing arts groups, live demonstrations, and children's activities are all held at downtown venues within walking distance of each other. Stops include artist and maker demonstrations at Building Character, watercolor demonstrations at Christiane David Gallery, Lancaster Sound Map at Penn Square and three different plays at various sites.
Beginning this weekend, the Intercourse Bike Works will host a Wine and Beer Tasting Bike Tour. The bike shop has paired with Rumspringa Brewing Company for a great bicycle tour through Amish Country followed by adult beverages from local crafters. The ride is 12 miles and costs $50 per person and includes helmet, water and wine and beer tasting.

Also celebrating art this weekend is the Elizabethtown Community Park with the 13th Annual Arts in the Park Park. The free event features over 30 art and craft vendors, musical entertainment and children's activities.
Beginning on May 20, the 300 Block of Queen Street will host the Sips and Bits Stroll every third Friday of the month. The event takes place from 6-9 p.m. and features coffee, cheese, charcuterie and more. Guests can enjoy the merchants on the 300 block and local food and drink. Proceeds for the event benefit two great local non-profits - Music For Everyone and PA Guild of Craftsmen. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the event. Get your tickets here.
