Lancaster County Fall Festivals and Farm Fairs

Fall is upon us and with it comes cooler temperatures, harvest, apple cider, pumpkins, corn mazes, mums, and fun filled festivals and local farm fairs.

Tailgating is not just for sports stadiums.  Check out the Tailgate Festival at Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, Pa, Sept 16-17, 2011. There you will find sports themed scarecrows and cooking demonstrations.   Ever try pumpkin bowling?  Face painting for young and old and a parade on Saturday at noon.  And lots of delicious food at the Eagles and Steelers Tailgate tents!

How about a Whoopie Pie Festival!  On Sept 17, 2011 get yourself to the Hershey Farm Restaurant & Inn in Strasburg, Pa for everything whoopie pie; races, whoopie pie launching, whoopie pie eating contest, whoopie pie checkers and many more fun, delicious happenings.

You can experience Lancaster County's agricultural bounty by attending one, or more, of its many local farm fairs.  See prize winning livestock, homegrown produce, handmade quilts, homemade baked goods, and lots of food, games, carnival rides and parades,  Denver's Fair runs Sept 13 -17 followed by Ephrata's Fair Sept 20 - 24.  West Lampeter Community Fair and New Holland's Farm Fair run Sept 28 - 30, although the New Holland Fair closes Oct 1.  The Manheim Community Fair closes the season Oct 3 - 7.  For a complete listing of fairs and festivals in Lancaster County go to www.padutchcountry.com/Events.
