Lancaster County - A Great Place for Children

Most visitors to Lancaster County know it for its charming, unique and friendly Bed & Breakfast Inns, the outlets for great shopping, its fantastic theatres, its Amish heritage, its unique established restaurants and miles of well-cultivated farmland. But Lancaster County has a bountiful collection of economical family-friendly attractions. Parents and Grandparents can spend hours and days of fun together with their children and grandchildren.

On a recent visit with our 5yr old granddaughter, we visited many of the local attractions. On our first day we headed downtown to see “Peter Pan Puppet” show at the ‘Hole in the Wall’. She was quite taken with the puppets on a string. We followed the show with a stroll through the streets of downtown Lancaster. On the following days we enjoyed more fun and games with visits to Hands on House, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm, Hayloft Candle and Petting Zoo, (our granddaughter loves “Deer”, so there was a two day trip to the petting Zoo), Dutch Wonderland, Pa. Renaissance Faire (children’s Day), Village Green miniature golf, Ice Cream at Lapp’s Farm and of course watching the milking of the cows.

Imagine you and you child riding the fun slide at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm after spending time in the famous Amazing Corn Maze.

On future visits we hope to see and do more of the many attractions for children. For example, train rides and museum, science factory, make a friend, wolf sanctuary, buggy rides, and creating a pretzel. The list can go on and on. So, Parents and Grandparents, come to Lancaster County. There’s so much joy in watching your child or grandchild SMILE.
